Bright Eyes in the Dark

Writer's picture: The WeaverThe Weaver

'Kneel, you snivelling runt...'

Every fibre of his body that had just so recently been still and tight was suddenly released, and Snikrit crashed to the ground.

'I beg of you, let me live!' he cried out to the ground. He couldn't bring himself to look up at who, or what, had grabbed him, but he could tell that wherever he had been taken, it was dark, very dark. And cold.

'Yeeeeeeessss.... yeeeees....' the voiced said, 'kneel before me, grovel for your life!'

Snikrit did not need to be told twice, he had been shaking like a leaf on the floor since he had been released

'What do you want-want?' he asked, almost biting his small lips off while shivering uncontrollably.

'I want you to serve me my little Snikrit' the voice whispered in his ear. He jumped, he had not heard, nor felt, that the shape had moved and it almost drove Snikrit mad knowing the figure could move so quickly. And so silently.

'Serve me, or die. Choose, and choose quickly!' the dark shape said. And suddenly Snikrit could feel a tendril of some kind wrap around his neck.

'I will serve-serve!!' he squeaked. The tendril cinched tighter. 'Master-master' he wimpered in a hurry.

'Goooooood, goooood little Snikrit...' the voice said, now ahead of him. In the dark two eyes suddenly blazed getting closer to him.

'Now,' it said, soothingly, like a butcher calming a lamb, 'find me what I seek. Find me my doughnuts!!'
